The Sanskrit verse "Tamaso Ma Jyotirgamaya" is an invocation to lead mankind from darkness to light. The picture of girls offering floral tributes beside the flame, is a glorification of light and prayer to God. The effiorescent lotus at its top symbolizes purity and beauty. The Book and the ascending Sun are symbols of wisdom and enlightenment. At the bottom is inscribed the name of the College.

Student's Information Bureau

The students' information bureau started in the year 1965 with the object of supplying information to the students on various career opportunities open for them in India and abroad and other facilities available in the college.

THE SOCIAL SERVICE GUILD
The objectives of the Govt. Women's College social service Guild are (I) to grant aid to the needy and deserving students of the College. (II) To form a volunteer corps in the town at the time of floods and other natural calamities to render help to the destitute.

Finance:-

  1. each student of the college contributes an annual subscription of Rs.2.00/- towards the guld fund.
  2. Members of the college staff make volunteer contribution.
  3. High officials and well-to-do publics are occasionally approached to make donations towards the fund.
  4. The beneficiaries of the guild fund are expected to refund the money they receive after they are settled in life and they sign an undertaking to that effect

Management:
The principal as ex-officio president controls the fund of the guild. There is an executive committee consisting of the following:-

  1. The Principal as ex-officio president
  2. Vice-President nominated by the Principal from among the members of the staff.
  3. Secretary – elected from among the students.
  4. Asst.-Secretary- elected form among the students.
  5. All election shall be held along with the Annual election of the College.

The duties of the secretary are (a) to convene the general and executive committee meetings of the social service guild (b) to record the proceedings of the meetings. (c) to organize student volunteers to raise funds for improving the financial position of the Guild. (d) to remind and ask the beneficiaries of the Guild to refund the help they received. (e) to work with a view to realizing the objects of the Guild as laid down in clause 2 above. (f) To prepare with the help of the Vice-President and submit at the annual general meeting an annual report of the working of the Guild along with the accounts of the previous year.

(POOR AND DESERVING STUDENTS OF THE COLLEGE RECEIVE HELP FOR A PERIOD OF TEN MONTHS DURING A SESSION ORDINARILY FROM JULY TO APRIL.)
